History of Diamonds
The name Diamond is derived from ancient Greek Language.Diamonds were first recognized and mined in India about 6,000 years ago.Diamonds were first found on the banks of the famous rivers Penner,Krishna and Godavari.The famous Kohinoor Diamond was found on the banks of Krishna river located in India,Andhra Pradesh.
Diamonds have been treasured as gemstones since their use as religious icons in ancient India.Their usage in the engraving tools also dates to early human history.
Diamonds became more popular since the 19th century because of increased supply,improved cutting and polishing techniques,growth in the world economy,and mainly due to innovative and successful advertising campaigns.
Diamonds are mostly found in India,China,Australia,Africa,Russia,Brazil and Canada.Central and Southern Africa produce 49% of diamonds.
